Overview

Hiring full-time engineers or dealing with contractors walking off with project knowledge at a moment’s notice were once the only alternatives for Tektronix. Then they discovered nResult’s revolutionary approach to highly flexible, salaried project support.

Background

As a leading developer of electrical testing, measurement and monitoring equipment since 1946, Tektronix technologies permeate modern society. To stay competitive, Tektronix relies upon temporary engineering support for the flexible scalability demanded by project deadlines.

Challenge

Unfortunately, working with local contractors and temporary engineering support led to some familiar challenges for Tektronix. Engineers supplied by temporary staffing agencies occasionally arrived under the impression that their employment was on a temp-to-hire basis. More frequently, the release of a temporary engineer at the close of a project or phase also entailed the loss of all training and experience invested in that individual. When cyclical project demands increased, contractor training had to begin anew. This lack of efficiency pushed Tektronix to consider hiring additional engineering staff, despite the cyclical nature and inevitable waning of project demands. Caught between these two unattractive options, Tektronix discovered an entirely new alternative with nResult.

nResult provided Tektronix with engineers who remained full-time, salaried employees of nResult before, during and after their stint at Tektronix. For Tektronix, this means that knowledge resources can finally align with shifting project needs. Also, when project needs decline, there’s no loss of knowledge. At project or phase end, nResult engineers simply return to nResult—available to Tektronix when needs increase. Most importantly, since nResult engineers remain exclusive, salaried employees of nResult, Tektronix is able to train once and release an engineer, confident that they can request that individual again when project needs dictate. No more knowledge loss and wasted training on contract labor.
